Kids on the Block

CMHA-Peterborough Branch is pleased to once again be offering performances of the Kids on the Block, a special troupe of educational puppets that dress and act like real children.  Each one has definite likes and dislikes, hopes and fears, talents and limitations.  And, like real children, some have differences such as mental, physical and emotional disabilities.

We offer ten lively and upbeat shows designed by Kids on the Block Inc., that deal with the important issues of children's mental health, being a child of divorced parents, and bullies and school safety.  Through a new partnership with Epilepsy Peterborough we are also offering two shows about epilepsy.

In February 2003 the Kids on the Block program was resurrected after a several year hiatus thanks to support from the United Way.  The program is currently sustained through a three year grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation and additional funding from The Lloyd Carr-Harris Foundation and the F.K. Morrow Foundation.  Donations from schools, community groups and private individuals are also important to the program's success.  All performances are provided free of charge and donations are gratefully accepted.
